The Canada Immigrant Investor programme is attractive to those looking to take up residence in Canada for at least a five-year term and thereafter benefit from Canadian Citizenship and being a Canadian passport holder. Canadian Citizenship offers investors a very high standard of living.
Please be aware that there is also a Quebec programme that is very similar to the Canadian Citizenship programme. Should you wish to look at this programme for any specific reason then we would be happy to discuss it with you. By being so similar to the Canadian programme, we just don’t think that it requires its own category on this site.
The Canadian Citizenship Immigrant Investor programme was introduced in 1999. Under the programme, successful applicants and their families initially receive permanent and unconditional Canadian resident visas.
The process can take up to 36 months and involves investing into Canada. Changes to the programme came about in 2010 and since then applicants must, in brief, meet the following criteria:
This can be done in two ways – a) Full funding whereby the full amount is deposited and at the end of the 62-month period, CAD $800,000 is returned to the investor with no accrued interest. Or b) Financed Funding whereby the applicant pays a reduced amount of $190,000. This reduced amount is not returned to the investor at the end of the 62-month period and is used to finance a CAD $800,000 closed 62-month term loan from a chartered Canadian bank. This loan is initiated and repaid at no further cost to the applicant investor.
